Description
Altis F5J-400 Thermal Glider is an ultimate competition machine – enginired to dominate by K.A. Composite Models.
It is not a compromice, but the result of precise aerodynamic and structural design.
It leverages AG-series airfoils by Mark Drela, which are the “basics” of high-performing thermal RC gldiers, also modified to provide you with higher top speed, better wind penetration, energy retention, and low-lift performance with added camber.
The airframe is stiff, with minimum amount of joins – single-peice fuselage, two wings, and removable tail feathers.
Altis F5J-400 Thermal Glider Construction Notes
Altis is made according to the highest industry standards, usilizing the best quality materials with CNC machinery and proven processes.
The wing core is made of Rohacell combined with biaxial spread carbon layup results in a rubust F5J-400 glider that is both light and solid.
The AUW of a complete glider starts at 640g.
Altis features a full-house two-piece wing which mounts on top of the fuselage with four M3 screws for the fast and easy assembly at the field.
The tail control surfaces use pull strings and torsions, ensures the lightest possible assembly of the tailboom, proven to work on the smaller models across various competition model classes.
While the entire construction features spread carbon layup, the front of the fuselage is 2.4GHz-friendly – you can run your Rx antennas inside.
At the moment, the model is only available as a kit, but the assembly is fairly simple.
Please follow the instructions in the official build guide (TBA).
