Description
Take a break from the real world and hang loose with Shaka – a portable 1-meter slope glider. It is a flying wing, that is designed for endless joy on a windy day or on a flat field.
Shaka RC Slope Glider Kit features a classic balsa/plywood construction, reinforced with carbon fiber spars and a leading edge. The updated kit can be built as both electric-powered and pure glider with no major difference in the AUW.
It is reasonably easy to build in approx. 6-10 hours.
Check the assembly guide to learn how to build this kit.
For more build and setup tips please check the related thread on RC Groups
A Portable RC Slope Glider
Shaka Slope Glider is collapsible for transportation and storage. Simply unscrew 2 bolts and take the fuselage and both wings apart.
It’s as easy as that.
The fuselage has a hatch for easy access to the interior and electronics. Two servos, there is a room for almost any ~10g servo, are glued onto the dedicated plates in the wing and drive two elevons.
In addition, you can choose to install any 1406 or 1507 drone motors to make your Shaka powered for flat-field fun or emergency rescues on the slope.
The fuse is designed to fit 25mm spinners that fit on M5 threaded shaft motors.
This Slope Glider Kit comes with a complete accessory set that includes M4 plastic wing mounting bolts and a pair of M4 nuts to be glued into the fuselage during assembly, control horns, ball linkages, and servo horn clevises for pushrods, etc.
Note: a covering film is not included in the Kit.

VERY CLEVER CONSTRUCTION. TOP QUALITION.

If you fly this glider without a motor, you probably will not have any issues other than the sensitivity of the flight controls. If you fly with a motor, you are going to find things just barely fit and I recommend you find the smallest ESC you can.

Excellent kit, outstanding quality and the Shaka is a delight to fly! I have been flying in a park, looking forward to slope flying soon.

The kit arrived without much delay and was well packaged. The laser cut parts were of very good quality and finely cut. I can not comment on the building process but look forward to assembling it and of course flying it. I’m very pleased with my purchase.

Service from FlightPoint was top notch. Although I haven’t begun building, we have all seen the build and flight videos, so I’m assured the build and flying will be awesome!

Good job for sure, Gene. Good easy design, I like the shape. I sprayed the construction of the wings black. Compatible with carbon tubes :-). It looks nice with the Oracover transparent film :-).
Evgen –
Great move with black spray over the structure and transparent film!
Thanks for sharing and happy flying!

The construction and the parts of the kit we’re very good. I had a lot of fun to build the gilder. I decided to build the gilder without motor. I have to look for a ESC and a battery for the very small fuselage. I hope the weather would be better for the Maiden.
Evgen –
Hi Falko,
Thanks for your honest feedback!
Glad that you like the kit and hope the weather will allow you to maiden it very soon!
Thanks,

The Shaka glider kit by FlightPoint is excellent. The selection of wood used in the kit and the laser cutting are both superb. The supplied fittings, the full-size colour plan and the detailed downloadable photo instruction, together with excellent You Tube build videos by Joyplanes and BavarianRC, ensure that this is a straightforward, accurate, build. I’ve built mine as a pure glider and decided to modify the fuselage so that it has a slightly longer nose within the same overall length. I’m using a 4.8V AAA Eneloop Pro receiver battery and King Max 9.4g 1002MD Super slim servos. Overall, I am delighted with this model and would recommend it to anyone who wants a stylish 250g ‘plank’ flying wing that flies really well.

Hi Richard,

The Shaka is a joy to build and a BLAST to fly! It’s quick, nimble and precise. After losing my first one in a sloping mid air, I promptly ordered and built a second one and now have a 3rd kit on my work bench that I plan on giving to my son. Thanks, Gene!
Evgen –
My pleasure, Doug!
Glad that Shaka offers you so much fun. Hope you will keep enjoying it together with your son now;)

Haven’t had a chance to fly yet as it’s winter here, but my electric version arrived fully assembled and built well. This is a good value if you need something to fly that’s under 250G.
Evgen –
Thanks for the kind words, Lorne!
I bet you will enjoy flying it!

My ARF Shaka came to Alaska in perfect condition. It is beautifully made and covered with film of the colors I chose. Communication with Evgen was a pleasure and he was quick to respond and accommodated all of my requests.
The craftsmanship was flawless and the covering perfectly applied.
I have many high end gliders and several flying wings. The performance pf the Shaka is as good or better than any of them. It is a great flyer!
I am super happy with this purchase as I feel the quality of the product is first rate the price was reasonable. Evgen is awesome and the customer service was excellent. I highly recommend this company and this product.

Kit came in a timely fashion, well packed and no damage. Instructions easy to follow and builds quickly. Very light waiting on film for covering going with laminate 20 micron. Plan for it to be a beach plane. The great Lakes in Ontario Canada have a very consistent wind which makes for great soaring. Not sure how I will ballast the plane at present, some fun for the future.
Evgen –
Thanks, James!
At least from the second take we got it right 😉

Hi All, I have ordered 2 kits. I’ve built one and flown it…Mine has about 3 hours of flying time now with maybe 8 landings over a 2 day period. Kit was easy to build…it took more time than 7 hours of build time as the plan states…however I put extra effort in….mine is 214 grams ready to fly. The balsa selection for the kit is superb….both kits were weighed…with a variation of 4 grams.!!! How good is that… I have fibre glassed the fuse the fin and the elevons. Fuse and fin are painted yellow enamel paint..the elevon are plastic film covered. I am running HV servos…and a 2 cell 450mah battery direct to receiver. I lengthen the nose by 15mm to a point..after all the web site is flight point..!!! LOL. The model is fast…roll rate is fast….lands slow if you want too. It is very manoeuvrable and easy to fly..on low rates its a docile model…on high rates if just super fun. My flight was in 18 knots..which is alot for a 214 gram model..and it handles it easily if you have experience. check out this… take a look at my second flight..
https://vimeo.com/628821712
This model is alot of fun and Im sure it will also be fun in light conditions due to its forgiving nature…this is a “spitfire” not a “DC3” ..regards Arthur…PS…I gave my second kit to Allen so we can dogfight..or do formation flying in the future..he filmed the video..my advice is just get one..great value…very good price…good clever design..you wont regret it.
Evgen –
Thanks, Arthur!
I was excited following your build and seeing another bird in flight is hilarious!
Enjoy flying your Shaka and keep sharing your pictures, they are beautiful! Almost feel like I’m there with you!

A very enjoyable build!! Took her for her first proper flight today, slope soaring on one of Holland’s many dikes. Extremely fun to fly. Top marks!!

Hasn’t been built yet, just arrived. Beautifully cut kit, looking forward to construction soon. Also enjoyed the many Ukrainian stamps on the box, which survived the long trip well due to its shape. Looking forward to another project from you in the future!
Evgen –
Hi Douglas, thanks for your kind words. There are a few interesting projects in development, so stay tuned and enjoy the build!

Hi Evgen,
Just letting you know that all went well with the kits, and they truly are a great flyer, not needing much lift to fly, I’m absolutely loving it, the shaka lives in the car as I often find a place to fly in my travels, short throws and expo are needed, as she’s very responsive, great model mate, nice work…
Evgen –
Hi Andy,
Thanks for writing this up! Glad you liked the KIT and making such great use of it, enjoy!
